The Easiest Turkey Chili

 
 

There’s nothing like a good ole comfort meal like chili!

Now… there are tons of chili recipes out there, but I’ve taken bits and pieces from all of them over the years to make this one my own. Better yet, I’ve also created my own homemade chili powder blend, because we don’t use the packaged stuff around here (goodbye all that nasty sodium and yucky ingredients)!

Here is an easy and delicious turkey chili recipe that you will keep coming back to. To follow along, check out this IG reel and YouTube video.

Ingredients:

Chili:

  • 1 lb ground Turkey

  • 1/2 onion (chopped)

  • 1/2 Bell Pepper (chopped)

  • 4 garlic cloves (minced)

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil (for sautéing)

  • 1 can of tomato paste (6 oz)

  • 1 can diced tomatoes (15 oz)

  • 1 can of kidney beans (16 oz)

  • 1 can of chickpeas (16 oz)

  • 1 can of corn (8 oz)

  • 1.5 cups of water

  • Cheddar cheese (garnish-optional)

  • Sour cream (garnish-optional)

  • Chives or Cilantro (minced -garnish- optional)

Homemade Chili Powder Blend (2 Servings- 7 Tablespoons)

  • 3 tablespoons of chili powder

  • 1 tablespoon cumin

  • 1 tablespoon paprika

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon oregano

  • 1 tablespoon black pepper

  • 2 teaspoons salt

The Process:

  1. Wash and chop/mince your ingredients.

  2. In a medium-high heat pot, add the olive oil and let heat up for five minutes.

  3. Add the ground turkey to the pot and cook it down until it’s cooked.

  4. Put the cooked turkey in a bowl and set aside.

  5. In the same pot, add the bell peppers, onion and garlic. Saute everything for 5 minutes or until wilted/translucent.

  6. Add the tomato paste and mix in for 30 seconds.

  7. Add the dices tomatoes and mix in for 30 seconds.

  8. Add the beans, corn, and ground turkey to the pot and dmix everything together.

  9. Add in 1/2 Chili Powder (3.5 tablespoons) to the pot and stir.

  10. Add the 1.5 cups of water, stir and let the mixture simmer on the stove for 30-45 minutes.

  11. Serve while hot.

  12. Garnish with the shredded cheese, sour cream, and the chives/cilantro.

  13. Enjoy!
