3 Philly Cheesesteak Spots You Must Try!

When in Philly, you have to make an effort to make a pit stop at one of the many restaurants serving up the infamous Philly Cheesesteaks.

We visited Philly for the first time in a while back in September 2022 for Labor Day Weekend, and made another stop earlier this year, and it was so much fun. I had a bad cheesesteak expereince at once spot and I’ll refrain from naming names, but what I will share are the three spots we visited that had top of the line cheesesteak sandwiches. If there’s one thing about me, I’m gonna look up reviews for days, and I made sure I did my due diligence. Let’s just say the reviews did not lie. I’ll leave my quick reviews down below and some flicks from the day.

Pro Tip: Make sure you always ask for the “cheese whiz” because that’s what makes the philly cheesesteak a real cheesesteak!

1. Sonny’s Famous Steaks- This was a first stop. There was a line but it moved fast. I was waiting for no more than 15 minutes. Inside the restaurant had an old school feel to it which I liked, and it was very fast paced. They were taking orders and moving everyone right along. They’ve been around since 1999 so they’ve been doing this for some time. The sandwich was nice and hot, cheesy, and not too oily. 10/10

2. Cleavers- We made a stop here on our way home from Philly, so we brought the sandwiches home and heated them up for dinner. The wait was nonexistent and we got the sandwiches so fast. This establishment has more of a modern feel to it; it’s been around since 2016. Although it’s a newer spot, they still did their thing with these sandwiches. They were so damn good! These had an amazing taste, especially for being reheated. 9/10.

3. Ishkabibble's- This was by far my favorite, the meat was tender, juicy, cheesy and was just right. It was just so delicious! They have been around since 1979. There was a bit of a wait, but it moved quickly. 10/10.
