Magic Ingredient That Will Remove Crayon Stains On Your Couch

When you have a toddler, there comes a point where you realize that you will have to deal with “mess”, whether that’s toys all over the house, fingerprints on the mirrors, or even crayon stains on the walls and furniture. As a person who’s type A and must have everything in a certain place around the house (a tidy house makes me happy and brings me zen), coming to terms with this was tough, but here we are. LOL

The other day my daughter took her blue crayon and scribbled all over the back of my tan-colored sectional. I didn’t even see when this took place. I went to give her a bath, and as we were walking past the living room into the other room, I spotted the massive scribble marks all over the back of the couch. I froze! I kept calm and ran to Google immediately.

Thank goodness other people have already gone through these things, so I was able to handle this in a hot second.

I have a TikTok video talking about and showing exactly how I cleaned the couch, so you can check that out here.

I also wanted to share the steps here and the ingredients you’ll need to take care of this if you’re ever presented with this situation.

What’s the magic ingredient, you ask? Dish Detergent!!!!!

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Dish Detergent (clear color- ones with dye will potentially stain the couch)

  • Wash Cloth

  • Water

  • Spray Bottle or something to dispense the solution

What you’ll need to do:

  1. In a bottle, mix 1 parts dish detergent and 3 parts water.

    • For example, mix 1/4 cup of dish detergent and 3/4 cup of water. It should be a thin consistency.

    • You can also do 3 tablespoons of dish detergent and 9 tablespoons of water for a smaller batch.

  2. Wet the washcloth with warm water.

  3. Spray/Squeeze some of the dish detergent mixture onto the wash cloth or directly on the couch.

  4. Begin rubbing the crayon stain in circular motions.

  5. The crayon stain will begin to vanish right before your eyes.

  6. Continue steps 1-3 until all the crayon stains are gone.

  7. Let the couch dry for several hours and your couch will be good as new!

I hope you find this helpful as a new or seasoned parent, and share this with another parent you think will need this!

XOXO
